Vintage 2002

Following the magnificent year of 1999, in 2002 the House ecountered ideal climatic conditions to reply a Vintage edition, being the weather low rainfall and drier weather with a healthier atmosphere than the previous years and few unfavourable incidents. Vintage 2002 is part of the very first trilogy of Veuve Clicquot champagnes in the 21st century together with Rosé Vintage 2004 and Cuvée Rich 2002.

The blend

Vintage 2002 is comprised of 60% Pinot Noir, 7% Pinot Meunier and 33% Chardonnay. The blend incorporates grapes sourced from only 17 crus, all of which are classified as Grands or Premiers Crus. These are located either in the Montagne de Reims or in the Grande Vallée de la Marne for the Pinot Noir, and in the Côte des Blancs where Le Mesnil-sur-Oger represents the best Chardonnay vineyards (Grand Cru).

Tasting Notes


Pale gold colour with silver accents. It has a brilliant aspect and effervescence is lively and long-lasting.


Pure and complex with refined mineral flavours, underlined with flowery notes. Aerating the wine reveals hints of yellow-fleshed fruits and pastry, followed by a touch of spice.


Silky, complex and generous with fruity and floral underlined by a hint of minerals and spices, with a touch of menthol and toast.

Food pairing

This wine can accompany the most refined dishes liken bass tartare, poached turbot served on a bed of fresh pasta, or cappuccino of Bressechicken with candied citrus fruits.Keen devotees can enjoy it as an aperitif for very special occasions.
