Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé 2002

Cuvee: Prestige Cuvée, Rosé
Vintage: 2002

A Champagne of exemplary finesse and elegance, with floral notes and balanced fruit underlining the rosé hue.

2002 was a warm, dry year that produced distinctive, elegant wines. Chardonnays were fresh and full and Pinot Noirs were rich and powerful with intense forest fruit aroma.

The Blend

The core blend comprises 49% Chardonnay from Cramant/Avise, 46% Pinot Noir from Mailly/Verzy and 5% Pinot Meunier. The wine spent over six years maturing on the lees before disgorgement. Belle Epoque Rosé is finished with 8% of red wine from Ambonnay and Ay, rather than the partial maceration (saignée) method, with a final blend otherwise very similar to the straight Belle Epoque.

Tasting Notes

Light and floral on the nose, with hints of wild strawberry, raspberry and forest fruits. Fresh yet silky and balanced on the palate, with excellent ageing potential.

Dosage: 9g/l

% Alcohol: 12.5

Food Pairing

Versatile – an ideal accompaniment to grilled lobster or, in contrast, crème brulee.
