Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé 1998

La Grande DameRosé is a strong and fine champagne obtained with the addition of red wine (15%) to the superb blend of the classical La Grande Dame (2/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Chardonnay), one of the most impressive expressions of the Veuve Clicquot style.

The blend

The basic blend is comprised of 2/3 Pinot Noir, sourced from the Grands Crus of Ay, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay and Bouzy. The Chardonnay, which rounds out the blend, is sourced exclusively from the three Grands Crus in the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Red wine (15%) produced exclusively from the Pinot Noir grapes sourced in the Bouzy vineyards was added to make the Grande Dame Rosé 1998

Tasting Notes

Eye

Colour somewhere between copper and salmon

Nose

Fruity and spicy notes with a refined mineral background. When swirled in the glass, the fruit comes to the forefront.

Palate

Flavours of cherry and sweet spices that give this wine exceptional smoothness. The wine’s aromatic strength and imposing structure are balanced by an amazing smoothness due to the presence of the Pinot Noir. Exceptionally long finish and wide bouquet of aromas

Food pairing

Perfect with fresh fish but also delicate and smooth sweets.
