Paris Champagne Bars

In Paris almost every bar and restaurant serves champagne: from the small café to the hip brasserie or club, nearly all offer champagne by bottle or by glass.  There are, however, a number of bars that are entirely focused on champagne. Accordingly, the bars listed below offer a wide selection of champagne as well as a special ambiance. 

Bar à Bulles inside Galeries Lafayette
sLe Bar à Bulles is a small champagne and water bar in the middle of a women’s clothing section on the first floor (that’s the second floor in the US) of Galeries Lafayette, “the department store capital of fashion”. The name Bar à Bulles is due to the fact that they mostly serve waters and champagnes – both have bubbles – hence the name Bulles. Champagne is the main attraction, but there is still a wide variety of waters to choose from (more than 20) Additional beverages include soft drinks, beer, and espresso.

Bar à champagne at The Eiffel Tower
Located on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower – at a height of 180 metres – this champagne bar is the ideal place to take a break and have a flute of champagne enjoying a magical view of Paris. Bollinger’s bar at Bon Marché
Located in the basement of Paris’s famous Bon Marché, it’s a flagship store of the renowned champagne House but at the same time a bar. Designed by Eric Berthès the Bollinger bar is a sober space with a simple central bar that recalls the red colour and the blazon of the champagne House while on the walls behind crystal glasses keep imprisoned the bottles of the prestigious cuvees. While shopping at one of the greatest department stores in Paris, there is always the time to taste a flute of Bollinger Champagne’s, whether it is a Special Cuvée or a Rosé.

Les Bulles Saint Sabin
Close to Place de la Bastille, in the 11th arrondissement, this is the right place to go to find a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to have a flute or order a relatively affordable bottle of champagne. Le Bulles Saint Sabin hosts parties and special occasions.

Call me Bubbles
This small champagne bar on the Montmartre hills offers dozens of different champagnes available by bottle or glass and a good selection of red and white wines. To accompany the drinks, Call Me Bubbles has a small menu for those feeling peckish offering a selection of sweet and savoury dishes. In the list of champagne selected names such as Armand de Brignac, Bruno Paillard, Paul Goerg, Lepreux, as well as vintage editions of Dom Perignon, Moet&Chandon and Krug.

Le Ciel De Paris
Located on the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower, Le Ciel de Paris has reopened after a year-long renovation. The restaurant and champagne bar prides itself on being the highest restaurant in Europe and boasts futuristic décor in beige and earth tones, with a ceiling studded with round mirrors illuminated at night. The mind behind the new project is the interior architect Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance who was thinking to give Paris a great place, chic et fizzy, and view the city from another perspective. This luxurious brasserie features the cuisine of chef Christophe Marchais creating an attractive seasonal menu based on ingredients as lobster, scampi, truffle and turbot and offering a well-endowed wine list with great picks like Mouton Rothschild and Cheval Blanc. Past the entrance, the champagne bar has a wide offer of champagne bottles and champagne cocktails that can be tasted while having the view on one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Flute
In the 17th arrondissement, mere steps from L ‘Arc de Triomphe Flûte l’Étoile is the younger sister of the renowned New York champagne bar launched in January of 2008. The décor is sleek with an abundance of wood panelling, a big central chandelier – a cascade of glass spheres and bold splashes of red. It goes without saying that there’s an extensive list of champagnes available, by both bottle and glass – they even offer tasting flights. Their champagne cocktails are also well worth sampling like the “Antoniette” (grapefruit, strawberry, with Absolut Vodka and champagne), “Le Fleur de Rosé” (Stolichnaya, purée of raspberry, purée of pineapple, cream of raspberry, and champagne), and of course, the “champagne Mojito”. To accompany the drinks Flûte has a selection of tapas from which to choose like fois gras, saumon fume and even caviar.
This intimate and elegant spot has a modern décor, with a typical bar setting downstairs and a mezzanine section upstairs, with live jazz sessions on selected nights.

La Grande Dame by Veuve Clicquot at Hotel Sezz
Just across the river from the Eiffel Tower, in the 16th arrondissement, La Grande Dame is the bar of the glamorous Hotel Sezz, the same Sezz as the legendary St. Tropez outpost. In partnership with the famous champagne House Veuve, the bar is named after its top Cuvée, La Grande Dame, which is also the Parisian nickname for the Eiffel Tower. The bar offers alcoves in the shape of rose petals and sits around a tall, narrow atrium window, while offering a generous menu of 10 different champagne cocktails, like the mojito champagne cocktail. Small bites include sushi and salmon skewer.

Louis 25
Louis 25, conceived by the former boxer Louis Acaries, is a champagne bar housed in a listed mansion house at the bottom of the Champs Élysées. Inside a boutique hotel, the club is divided into two different visual spaces: a “baroque-chic” and a “design trendy”, with a great terrace. Unique in its genre, Louis 25 is more than a bar, as it is conceived as a cosy lounge to meet friends at the end of the day and enjoy the live music. This relaxed bar offers champagnes and whiskeys and an exceptional selection of wines for real wine lovers. The assortment of tapas suits every taste, with appetizers that range from Lebanon to Iberique cuisine, burgers and caviars.

Mayor’s Bar at Hotel de Buci
On the Rive Gauche (Left Bank) area of Paris, at the very heart of the dynamic Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, Mayor’s Bar within Hotel de Buci is beautifully decorated in an 18th century atmosphere and a delightful place to stop for a flute of champagne. Maxim’s
Situated between Place de la Concorde and Place de la Madeleine, Maxim’s is not only a restaurant, but also a popular nightspot. Created in 1893, Chez Maxim’s was a bistro that was also the home of courtesans. Although these are things of the past, the decor has not changed. The bistro is a masterpiece of art nouveau with decorations inspired by fauna, flora and feminine charm. Pierre Cardin, the famous fashion designer, has turned the three floor Maxim building into a museum that celebrates this prolific period of history. Today Maxim’s is a good place to entertain while enjoying classic French cuisine and drinking a good bottle of champagne.

Pershing Hall Bar and Lounge
Situated at the heart of the golden triangle between the Champs Elysées, Avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V inside the same Hotel, Pershing Hall Bar and Lounge is a specialised champagne bar on the famous Champs Elysées and one of those places that it’s always going to be a crowd puller. The interiors are designed by Andrée Putman even though the real celebrity here is the 30-meters vertical garden created by Patrick Blanc, a French-born botanist who has already gone on to create many vertical green masterpieces all over Paris, in Asia, Brazil, America, Australia, London, and the Middle East, and to inspire landscapers around the world to plant up. Pershing Hall is a unique place offering a large selection of champagnes, great wines and an original cocktail menu which makes it one of the trendiest venues in the capital. When the weather is fine, the glass roof covering the terrace is opened, taking full advantage of this space.

Point Bulles
Situated between Saint-German de Pres and the Great Jardin du Luxembourg it’s a “Restaurant à champagne”, where oriental food and champagne make the mix. The owners of this place form an interesting team: the sister of a brother-and-sister team who run a family Champagne business called Philippe Gonet; an enterprising Lebanese restaurant owner named Karim Haïdar; and an Italian as a third party. This fusion of different cultural backgrounds has produced a fascinating menu and a delightful champagne list-of course Chantal Gonet has her own Champagne well to the fore, but not exclusively as the full range of another producer is available (which changes every month) and a further array of choice on the menu.

Radisson Blue’s Le Dokhan
It is probably the only real champagne bar in Paris. Charming and intimate, this historic bar is decorated with elegant celadon wood panelling accented with gold highlights and antique mirrors. In addition to the 70 or so bottles of champagne selection, many from smaller producers, there is a dignified selection by the glass. Each week, the head sommelier Mikaël Rodriguez introduces diverse champagnes along with three different cuvées, the Premier Cru, the Rose and the Vintage. The bar also schedules monthly champagne tastings and live jazz events, both of which are immensely popular with guests and local residents.

The Ritz Bar
The Ritz Bar, inside the Ritz Hotel has a following of young and trendy Parisians. It offers on outdoor terrace, with a collection of chic and comfortable lounge chairs that overlook the grassy enclave of the interior courtyard. The Ritz Bar serves Ritz Brut and Ritz Brut Rose, and their Millisime’ and Tête de Cuvée, in addition to a fabulous selection of the most famous champagne Houses – Cristal, Perrier Jouet, Dom Ruinart among others. The bar is most famous however, for its champagne cocktails which include the Ms. Bond – a brut champagne served with raspberry essence and a perfect red raspberry garnish – and Le Serendipity a concoction of mint, Calvados, apple juice, champagne prepared by the head barman Colin Field’s.
